Career-Shaping Summer Internships

Early exposure to professional experiences can have a profound effect on an individual’s career path.  To broaden our students’ horizons, Prep for Prep strives to expose them to professional internships at leading companies.  This summer alone, more than 330 Prep students are participating in competitive internships across the city at banks, museums, hospitals, technology and media firms, and nonprofit organizations.  These internship stories exemplify the impact such opportunities have on students as they enter an ever-more competitive job environment.
  • Because of his love of sports, Luis Almonte (XXIII/Allen-Stevenson '03, Berkeley Carroll '07, Boston College '11) interned with the New York Mets. His experience there launched his career in human resources. He currently works as the Manager for Global HR Analytics and Technology at MediaMath, a digital marketing agency.
  • In college, Juliana Hernandez (P9 XVII/Choate '08, Harvard '12) was unsure of her career direction. However, her internship with Time Warner Inc. sparked her interest in finance and she accepted the company’s offer for a full-time position as a Procurement Services Analyst shortly after graduation.  She now works for CNN News Finance.
  • While pursuing her degree in social work, Bianca Okolie (P9 XIX/Lawrenceville '10, NYU '15) interned with J.P. Morgan during several summers.  She currently works as a J.P. Morgan Project Specialist and continues to pursue her social service interest through volunteer involvement in the bank’s community service projects.
