About
Sharing Best Practices

Smart Connections

The Smart Connections initiative leverages Prep’s extraordinary track record to help strengthen other organizations such as academic enrichment programs and charter schools to improve the life prospects of many more young people. Since 2007, Smart Connections has formed relationships with over 200 organizations across the United States and around the world, offering them consulting and technical assistance, networking opportunities, and professional conferences. Through this initiative, we have indirectly impacted the lives of another 250,000 young people worldwide.

Technical Support

We provide customized assistance including sharing best practices; facilitating meetings with Prep for Prep senior staff in all program areas; and hosting visits to Prep classes, student workshops, and activities.

Networking

We connect programs of varying size, scope, and stage of development with peers in the field by hosting roundtable discussions, sharing the experiences of our staff and alumni, and drawing on the considerable pool of programs that use parts of Prep’s model.

Conferences

Conferences facilitate a practical and targeted exchange of ideas, tools, and practices for organizations and individuals working with young people. Smart Connections held its inaugural conference in 2008 and most recently hosted Promise and Possibility: Cultivating Leaders of Color in 2014.
