Students Advocating for Young Children (SAYC) is Prep for Prep's signature community service opportunity. It was launched by Prep students in 1992 as a children’s advocacy group to raise awareness of the plight of low-income children in New York City. In 2009, the SAYC Saturday Academy was founded by Prep alumni working at JPMorgan Chase & Co. It provides ELA and math tutorials for more than 100 high-need fifth graders from P.S. 188 and P.S. 124. A handful of these students have gone on to apply and be accepted to the Prep for Prep program. The academy has given thousands of community-service hours to Prep students and alumni.

My son came home from school and started his math homework. He quickly surveyed it and remarked, ‘This will be easy. This is just like the stuff I used to do at SAYC.’ Thanks again for inviting him to participate.
