Technology & Arts Enrichment

To develop future leaders in science, technology, and the arts, Prep for Prep partners with leading institutions in those sectors to offer top-notch enrichment programs to our students.

• Bloomberg Startup aims to inspire and support the next generation of technologists and entrepreneurs with a series of workshops for younger high school students. Topics include Java coding, business journalism, computer-aided design (CAD), and robotics.

• Google Code Next is designed to create the next generation of transformational computer scientists. Its engaging and culturally-relevant curriculum includes programming a robot and 3-D printing. Prep staff worked closely with Google on the development of the leadership curriculum for CS Edge/Code Next.

• Upperline Code is the host of Prep's first-ever Spring Coding Intensive, a weeklong coding camp for our ninth graders to learn front end development and Javascript.

The Prep for Prep/Sotheby's Art Academy introduces students to the arts profession and creates a pipeline of talent ready to pursue competitive internships at leading arts institutions. The four week program provides high school sophomores with a fundamental grounding in art history, field trips to museums and galleries, and exposure to careers in the art world.

Andrea Fernandez (XXXVI/Chapin '20, Harvard)

I thought computer science was solely about coding apps or software, but now I know it encompasses many other subjects like engineering and public speaking. Because of Prep for Prep and opportunities like Code Next, I want to pursue computer science in the future.
