PREP 9 (7th Grade)

PREP 9: The Boarding School Experience

PREP 9 helps high-achieving, motivated students from New York City and surrounding communities prepare for success at top independent boarding schools in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. The program is open to Current 7th grade students. Admission is highly competitive, with just 75 students accepted into PREP 9 each year. Spaces are reserved for students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance and financial need. As part of the application process, family income and financial resources are reviewed to ensure access for students who need support most.

Students begin with the 14-month Preparatory Component, designed to provide a rigorous academic foundation, social-emotional guidance, and wellness support to help them succeed in a residential school setting. Upon completion, students earn placement at a leading independent boarding school and receive continued guidance to navigate the transition, build confidence, and thrive academically and socially.

At our partner boarding schools, students have access to a wide range of opportunities—from advanced academics and leadership programs to arts, athletics, and extracurricular activities. This comprehensive program equips students to develop as leaders, pursue their passions, and make a lasting impact in school and beyond.
