Description of Job

GEM is looking for a Staff Accountant in its financial reporting department that services GEM Realty Properties.  The ideal candidate is a fast learner, highly analytical, able to multitask, intellectually curious, has good time  management skills, can work independently as well as in a group, and is confident in their ability to handle a variety  of responsibilities. The position offers the opportunity to be a crucial member of the GEM team with exceptional  career development opportunities.  

Description of Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting packages for assigned properties/assets.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations. 
  • Review and analyze financial data of assigned properties/assets. 
  • Work with property management team to resolve any issues. 
  • Prepare quarterly tax projections. 
  • Assist the tax preparer in completing the annual tax return. 
  • Prepare lender and partner reports to comply with the financial reporting requirements
  • Work with external auditors and provide answers to their questions/requests.
Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, including strong academic performance 
  • GPA of at least a 3.0 
  • CPA or CPA candidate 
  • Strong skills in Microsoft office 
  • Excellent communication, written and organizational skills
