Trinity School: Psychologist, Lower School (NY, NY) - Full-Time
About the Position
Trinity School, a co-educational, K-12 institution located on the Upper West of Manhattan, seeks a full time Lower School Psychologist beginning in September 2022.
The psychologist will join a team of educators focused on the intellectual, physical and emotional wellness of students. Given the increasing complexities of children’s lives, Trinity is committed to creating a child-centered, empathetic approach so students develop healthy, resilient and caring relationships and bring their full attention to learning. Fundamental to the work, the psychologist will foster greater understanding in faculty and families of how equity and a sense of belonging enrich children’s lives.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop relationships with students where they feel known and valued
Apply evidence-based interventions to classrooms and individual student behavior
Observe teachers’ classroom practices and collaborate with teachers in order to help children immerse themselves in learning
Provide direct short-term individual and/or group counseling services to students
Provide outside referrals and resources to support a child or family in need ∙
Develop, implement, model a comprehensive curriculum to promote growth in children’s social emotional lives and enable them to reach their full academic potential
Respond with care to the immediate and long-term effects of the pandemic on children’s well being
Consult with Lower School Principal
Work with Learning Support Services to create learning plans for individual students
Assist in interpretation of neuro-psyc evaluations and activation of recommendations
Partner with families around issues specific to their child
Manage individual, family and school crises
Offer periodic parent education opportunities to foster children’s well-being

Qualifications:
State Licensed School Psychologist (PhD or PsyD) with eight or more years of experience
Experience with Independent School children and family populations
Experience in providing in-service training to faculty and educational programs to parents
Extensive knowledge of psycho-educational evaluation results and standardized testing results
Knowledge of broad and acute spectrum behavioral disorders and common learning disabilities
